Centro Didattico Scientifico

The Fondazione Osservatorio Astronomico di Tradate FOAM13, is located in the Parco Pineta of Tradate on a  20.000 mq. ground, in a didactic research structure called, Centro Didattico Scientifico (CDS) recognized by Regione Lombardia as a  Centro di Educazione Ambientale (CEA). this structure was born from the desire of coming nearer to the nature and the enviroment.  Whoever wants to visit the CDS, (schools, people and researchers),will get in conctat with the enviroment, from the very near to the very far. the enviroment is extremely important to preserve for the future generations but also the space is equally important because it is source of a huge knowledge.

In Tradate there is a didactic research strucutre situated in the Parco Pineta. This structure was born from the desire to receive whoever wants discover the beauty of nature and its fascination.

The Parco Pineta has a beautiful and complex ecosystem, which reproduces the enviroment helping to comprehend how important the preservation of its woods is.

The 20.000 mq ground contains the Sentiero Natura which has 15 interactive didactic signs  that permits to broaden everyone's knowledge about natural themes. The structure contains also a building completely harmonized with the sorrounding enviroment and endowed with scientific equipment.

"IT ISN'T ENOUGH TO JUST LOOK, BUT YOU MUST LOOK WITH EYES THAT WANTS TO" SEE" This famous Galileo Galilei's quotation describes the spirit of the  “FOAM13”.

With our equipment ti is possible to make interesting scientific researchesbut we also give great importance to the didactic activities organising guided tours, abstronomical observations and lessons of astronomy.  It will be a privilege for Tradate that will attract everyone, also people who aren't interested in astronomy, and it will contribute to spread the knowledge of nature near us.

The path which is 400 metres long and goes trough didactic areas and rest areas and start from the area called "ecological path". The  path is made up with different species of plants such as the Common Heather,Common Broom,Fern, Scots Pine and Birch whose proliferation has encouraged the building of the ecosystem of the Park.

The butterflies garden and the pond respect this intention: in the garden the grass and bushes attract butterflies thanks to the Buddleja, also called "Butterfly Bush", the European Cornel and the Common Hawthorn.     the pond overstepped by a wodden bridge hosts anphibians, arthropod and vegetals common in this habitat.

There are also two rest areas (with waste bins!) that permit to take some refreshement in the open air.

The whole path ,which is made up with a compact soil, can also be used by disables. The areas of the path are linked with wodden lists. The path is equipped with a rope to allow to blind people to visit the Park .

Whoever wants to visit the FOAM13 or participate to didactic activities can read the informations in the dedicated page.
